DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
Sarah-Jo Dawson, IYPF President
Wow! Is it really 5 years since our first International Professionals Summit? It seems hard to believe. As I sat down to write the update for the new TIG Blog (www.tigblog.org/group/iypfmembers/post/45195) I had two questions in my mind. Has IYPF grown and progressed since these early days? Have I grown and progressed and how have I contributed?
Well, I was delighted to hear that our small and relatively new organisation continues to grow and expand. Since May we have had membership applications from people in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, the US, Europe, and Australia. We really are continuing to be globally representative and I would like to welcome to all the new member's of IYPF on behalf of the Board.
Also, great news came from the Implementation Team who are now supporting six official IYPF projects. Read about them on the website
www.iypf.org. The three new ones are "Barefoot Power", "Sustaining Actions" and "AIDS / HIV Uganda".
And speaking of the website, this in itself shows how far we have come. There is loads of great information on there. Just read back over previous newsletters to see the wealth of experience, knowledge and just raw passion the other young professionals in our Foundation have.
As for me, like many others, I have really benefited personally and professionally from being involved with IYPF. I have learnt new skills, gained new knowledge, made new friends and have been continually inspired by you all.
Thankyou IYPF, and may the next 50 years be as good as the last five!"
