INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE ALLIANCE

Be Part of the Global Activities on Peace Day, September 21! The
international Day of Peace Alliance is calling you to celebrate a day
of global ceasefire and non-violence annually on September 21! Last
year, Peace Day commemorations were held in 200 countries. That's
better than a three-fold increase from 2005 when about 60 countries
marked the day. In Brisbane, Australia, there were at least 14 events
marking this day of global ceasefire and non-violence, but.... We
call you to beat these records!

Some Ideas:
o Schools ~ make Pinwheels hwww.pinwheelsforpeace.com , origami
doves, study peacemakers like Gandhi
o Groups/Clubs ~ Hold a party/function, raising monies to sponsor a
child, for a charity, have a peace-orientated film or discussion
night
o Individuals ~ are the driving forces behind this
initiative...encourage friends, work colleagues & family to support
the day, smile at somebody you don't know!

There is plenty of time to organise an event or party. Sometimes the
best events happen in short time frames! Send your ideas to
convenor@idpa.org.au. If you have questions, if you need help
planning your event, if you need to add your event to the Australian
Peace Day List, or if you want to see a sample of what's going on,

ATTENDING NEW VOICES 2007

Cameron Neil attended the New Voices 2007 International Leadership
conference held at the Lowy Institute for International Policy on May
25. The New Voices conference chooses a different theme and approach
each year and invites young professionals from a variety of
disciplines relevant to the topic to attend. This year's theme of
International Leadership was divided up into four session topics:
Individual Leadership, The Fabric of Society, Dealing with a Multi-
Speed World, and Systems of Governance. Each session had a panel of
speakers present and then discussion opened up to the floor. The
topics were engaging and the discussion lively. Cameron was joined at
the event by Alan Wu, former IYPF Director, and many other IYPF
related colleagues.

Check the Outcomes Report from the day at
