2. Celebrate Global Youth Service Day!

GYSD will be celebrated from April 20-22, 2007. Global Youth Service
Day is the largest annual celebration of young volunteers, where
millions of young people in countries everywhere highlight and carry
out thousands of community improvement projects. GYSD offers a way
for local, national, and international organizations to:
· BUILD the capacity of an international network of organizations
that promotes youth participation, service, and learning;
· EDUCATE the public, the media, and policy-makers about the year-
round contributions of young people as community leaders around the
world;
· MOBILIZE youth and adults to meet the needs
of their communities through volunteering; and
· LEARN and share effective practices in youth service, youth voice,
and civic engagement in the world today.

To find out about ways to get involved, or to read about last year´s
GYSD, visit: www.gysd.net.

Or visit TakingITGlobal´s events page to search for Global Youth

3. Complete the We the People's Survey 2007

Millennium Development Goals at the Crossroads: We the Peoples 2007

We invite your collaboration in the We the Peoples 2007 Survey. This
survey will take up to 30 minutes of your time. You do not have to
fill out the entire survey, please feel free to answer any or all of
the questions.

Your contribution is most appreciated and will form the basis of the
We the Peoples 2007 report.

We the Peoples is an annual international survey which analyzes and
reports on civil society activities, achievements and views regarding
the Millennium Declaration and the Millennium Development Goals
(MDGs).

2007 is a year for the assessment of our global progress, marking the
mid-point to 2015, the target date for achieving the MDGs. It is a
critical time to engage governments and donors and to clarify a
roadmap towards 2015 to make it truly a year of celebration. Non-
governmental organizations who mobilized so much effort on the G-8
leaders at Gleneagles in 2005 are renewing their efforts toward the
2007 G-8 in Germany.

To inform and reinforce civil society efforts, we are publishing a We
the Peoples report, for launch in June 2007, to be used in mid-term
reviews and global advocacy campaigns. It will be forward-looking,
including critical assessments that civil society organizations are
making about progress on the MDGs. It will report what civil society
has achieved, and highlight recommendations for reform and further
action.

This year´s survey puts a special spotlight on young people and their
involvement with the MDGs. If you are a youth group or work with
young people, we particularly look forward to your in-depth responses
to the survey.

This survey is being conducted by The North-South Institute (NSI) in
Ottawa, Canada, an independent research institute, in collaboration
with the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), and
it is made possible through the financial support of Rights &
Democracy, in Montreal, Canada.

You can access the survey online at:
http://vovici.com/l.dll/JGs50C6D7C6D9lWaD9U27092J.htm

We welcome your response as soon as possible, and no later than April
27th, 2007.

If you have any questions about your participation in this survey,
please email us at survey@nsi-ins.ca.

Please pass on the information about the survey to your partner
groups or members of your networks, so that they can also register
their views on civil society engagement with the MDGs and on the path
we have walked since 2000.

Thank you very much for your participation.

John W. Foster & Pera Wells

Principal Researcher & Secretary-General
The North-South Institute World Federation of United Nations
